Minister Edna Earl Simmons

     Minister Edna E. Simmons was born on February 23, 1960 to the late Willie (Hickey) Davis and Mattie J. Simmons in Butler County.
      Edna was preceded in death by her grandparents James Anderson and Mattie Lee Simmons; parents, Willie Davis and Mattie Simmons-Gray; stepfather Willie J Gray Sr; her son, Lamar Simmons; brothers and sister, Sylvester Simmons, Ceaser Crenshaw and Hattie Mae Crenshaw. She graduated from Greenville High School with the class of 1978. Edna was raised as a member of Harrison St. Christian Church. She later joined House of God Church but ultimately found her home at New Testament Holiness Church where she was a active member. Edna was a giver and helper. She loved and cared for everyone. It didn’t matter who you were, she was willing to help.
     Edna leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Kamau (Shantilla) Simmons of Lawrenceville, GA, Markell Simmons, Tamyaha Simmons, and Evan Simmons, all of Greenville, AL; six sisters:  Katie (John) McClain, Ellen Ball , both of Montgomery, AL, Gloria (Mitchell) Jones of Anderson, AL, Margaret Gray of Greenville, AL, Brooksie Davis of Tuscaloosa, AL and Maxine (Brain) Warren of Columbus, GA; six brothers: Willie (Shonda) Gray of Fort Deposit, Willie C. Davis of Detroit, MI, Russell Davis, Curtis (Elizabeth) Gray, Bruce Crenshaw all of Greenville, AL, and Corey (LaRhonda) Gray of New Baltimore, MI; one uncle Houston Simmons Sr; three grandchildren: that she loved so dearly, Nacari Simmons, Paris Simmons, and Brielle Simmons. Two special cousins, Mary J. Simmons and Mable J. Crenshaw and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relative friends.
