Willie E. Stone Sr. was born on December 13, 1932 in Greenville, Alabama to the late Arasher and Alice Murphy Stone.
He confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Pine Top Missionary Baptist Church.
He met and married Mary Grice, to this union three children was born.
He worked for years in the Civil Right Movement and was an office holding member of the NAACP Chapter in Gary, IN. He retired after thirty five years of service at U. S. Steel.
He departed this life on October 4, 2019 at Princeton Hospital in Birmingham, AL.
Willie was preceded in death by sisters: Katie Howard, Lula (Eugene) Roshell, Lucille (Ellis) Grace and Daisy L. Stone; brothers: Nelson (Minnie) Stone, Richard Lee Stone, Walter (Lena) Stone Sr., Lewis Stone, James Stone and Curtis McCoy.
He leaves to cherish his memories: four children, Willie E. (Nancy) Stone Jr. of Chesapeake, VA; Angela M. Stone of Las Vegas, NV, Clara D (Lamar) Gambrell of Maudlin, SC, and Michael (Sabrina) Burks of Lynwood, IL; six grandchildren: Willie II, Montel, Jeremy, Michaela, Nicolas and Montez; nine great grandchildren; four sisters: Mary Alice Dale, Lola Allen, Loree Crenshaw and Lobea Stone all of Birmingham, AL; one brother-in-law: Elijah Palmer a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
