Annie Burton Obituary

Annie Nell Burton, (affectionately known as “Nette”) was born on December 14, 1943 in Butler County, Alabama.  She was the oldest of seven beautiful girls born to the late Willie Lee Fails and Hassie Lee Cook Fails. On October 20, 2019, Nette departed this earthly life and went home to glory.
Nette grew up in Greenville, Alabama receiving her early education in the Butler County Public School system. Upon graduating from Greenville Training School in 1962, she furthered her education receiving a degree from Winonah School of Cosmetology.
Nette migrated to New York upon finishing her education. She was employed at St. Francis Hospital as a Sterilization Technician for twenty years. Nette was a hard worker and a dedicated employee.
Nette received and accepted Christ at an early age and her faith never waivered. She was baptized and was a member at Mount Zion Baptist Church.
When she moved to New York, she became a devoted member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Roslyn Heights under the pastorate of Rev. Charles Ancrum, and later Rev. Richard L. Hunter. While at Friendship, Nette was a member of the Senior choir, member of the Missionary Board and a Deaconess.
When she relocated to LaGrange, GA, she became a devoted member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. W.T. Edmondson where she was a missionary and a member of the Mother’s Board. Nette was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church until her failing health prevented her from physically attending services.
In 1969, Nette welcomed a bouncing baby boyFrederick. He was her pride and joy. Theirs was a bond that was like none other. On November 27, 1975, Nette married her husband, Charles. They were married for 44 years.
Nette was a quiet soul. She was full of life and loved the Lord. She always had a smile on her face and hardly ever raised her voice. Nette loved her family with a kind, gentle and selfless heart. She was a devoted, Godly woman and will truly be missed by all who loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Charles; one son Frederick (Desireé) of Ontario, CA; two daughters, Monique from Westchester County, NY and Shanita of Freeport, NY; two grandchildren; her sisters Dorothy(James) of Dallas, GA, Edna (Andres) of Manhasset, NY; Earline (Sinclair) of Westbury, NY; Shirley of Somerset, KY and Johnnie of Greenville, AL (her twin sister, Nan preceded her in death); two brothers-in-law; a special friend Jackie Burton-Jackson; a large church family Rev.
