Deacon Willie Mims was born May 12, 1920 to the late Jimmy Lee Mims and Ellen McCorvey Mims in Monroe County, Alabama.
Deacon Mims was (100) years old when God called him home. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
Deacon Mims joined Macedonia Baptist Church in Awin, Alabama and remained a faithful member even as his health started to decline. He served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, served on the Usher Board and a Choir Member.
He was call Big Daddy by some, Mr. Red by others. He always had a conversation for everyone, plenty of jokes and laughter. He drove Log trucks for over (50) years.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Mrs. Annie Lois Mims of Pine Apple, AL; five children: Lucille Thompson of Brooklyn, NY; Dorothy Tait of Pensacola, FL; Patrick (Tenishea) Blankenship of Mobile, AL; John Mims and Nicholas (Tracie) Mims of Pine Apple, AL; one brother: Mr. Elbert Mims of Oak Hill, AL; 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; 3 brothers-in-law: Aundre Dale, Nelson (Charlene) Blankenship and Simon (Michelle) Blankenship; four godchildren: Queeine Marshall, Tiffany Dale, Dejaun Smith and Keith Mahan; devoted caregivers: Stephanie Fields, Deidre Dale and John Mims; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
