Elmira Hale “San Doon” Sanders was born in Forest Home,
Alabama on July 14, 1919 to the late Henry and Leola Simpson Hale.
On May 15, 2021 our hearts were saddened and broken when the Lord called Elmira home my child come and take your rest.
She was preceded in death by (2) children: Pearline Boggan , Henry Ed “Doc” Hamilton, (1) grandchild: DeAnna Boggan, (2) two sisters: Mamie Lee of Mobile, Al and Clara M. Simmons of Greenville, AL.
At an early age she was added to Oglesby St. Church Of Christ(now College Street Church Of Christ) of Greenville, AL. where she remained faithful until her health failed. During her Christian journey, she was a member of a singing group for many years. Also, she was featured in “The Greenville Advocate” on October 27, 2004 for her great work as a quilt maker.
Elmira “San Doon” leaves to cherish her memories two sons: Eddie Joe (Bertha) Hamilton, Robert (Carolyn) Sanders, daughter: Lanell ( Carlos) Shanklin, daughter-in-law: Louise Hamilton, of Greenville, AL, A host of loving grandchildren: Annie, Gloria, Adolphus, Henry Ed, Willie James, Scottie ,Wellington, Chris, Eddie, Patricia, Quana and Ray; a strong warrior of great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
