Mr. Hervine Bedgood Obituary

Legacy of Hervine Bedgood………..

On Monday, August 24, 2020, God called his beloved son Hervine home to rest. Hervine Bedgood was born on December 17,1918, from the union of the late Annie Lee Ward Golsom and Zell Bedgood of Butler County, Alabama. He accepted Christ at an early age at Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he remained a loyal member his entire life. He was educated in the Butler county Public School System.

He met the love of his life, Era and they were united in Holy matrimony on October 25, 1939. They were happily married for 71 years! Can you say amen to that. From this union five wonderful children were born. He built a life for his family by working at W. T. Smith Lumber Company, National Electric, and Rheem Manufacturing Company where he later retired as an electrician in Greenville, Alabama.

He earned the respect and administration of others by showing genuine concern and interest in their wellbeing. Without question he really loved his family dearly and his many loyal customers at the laundromat. When you speak of good character his name is at the top. He was always slow to anger, an attentive listener, caring, sharing and always with encouraging words to offer. He oftentimes provided shelter for the children when it was raining or simply too cold to stand outside as they waited on the school bus. He would take that time to offer inspiration of hope and encouragement as he saw them off to school. Well, the story does not end there, he would also provide a place after school that was safe for the children until their parents would come home from work. So, if any of you are looking for inspiration of a Man’s life or what a good Christian looks like, there you have it.  Always offering whatever is needed to ensure someone is taken care of.

Hervine Bedgood was preceded in death by his wife Era Bedgood; two sons, Herbert J. Bedgood and Joseph Bedgood; 1 grand daughter, Karen Bickerstaff.

He leaves to cherish his memories: three children, Earnestine Bickerstaff, Montgomery, AL, Belvia J.
