Deaconess Ellis Juanita Adam (Granny) Peagler was born March 14, 1927 in Butler Spring, Alabama to the late Owen Olenda Smith and Annie Lee Douglas Adam (Big Mama) Smith. At an early age, she joined the House Of God Church Of The Living God Pillar Ground of The Truth, where she accepted Christ as her savior at the age of 8 yrs. old, where she served faithfully. Ellis Juanita Adam Smith Peagler married Junior Lee (Big Granny) Peagler on April 19, 1942, in Holy Matrimony. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage, and (4) boys and (1) girl.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Junior Lee (Big Granny) Peagler, three sons: W. Peagler, Herman Leon Peagler, James Kendrick (Ironside) Peagler, (1) daughter Annie L. Pealger Lewis Mallory, (2) sisters, Annie L. Smith Pitts and Judy A. Smith Mixon, (5) brothers, Owen Olenda Smith Jr., Jefferson A. Smith, Johnny J. Smith, Melvin D. Smith, Solomon Smith, (1) granddaughter, Cynthia Y. Peagler, (1) granddaughter-in-law, Chaundra K. Peagler (1) nephew, Reginal Trent Smith and (1) great grandchild, Calvin J. (CJ) Peagler Sr.
She departed her life on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at her resident 326 Harrison St. after a brief illness.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving son: Harold O. (Jerry Dean) Peagler, 2 sisters: Mamie J, (Bunch) Brown and Yvonne Smith, 2 daughters–in-law: Lois Peagler and Tereasa R. Peagler, (2 ) sisters-in-law: Isabella Goodman and Helen Smith, one son-in-law: Williams Mallory, 24 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren, 53 great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her adopted daughter Willie N. Cherry and special friends Linda Robinson, Epsie Robinson, Rose Perkins, Annie Lois Roper, Virginia Booker, Tillman Johnson and Michelle.
