Ms. Elmira “Tot” Scott Johnson of Birmingham, AL transitioned from life in the natural to eternal life in heaven on August 5, 2020.
She was born August 4, 1942 in Greenville, AL to Mr. Tom and Mrs. Arvilla Scott. She met and married Mr. George E. Johnson and they later moved to Cleveland, OH where
they confessed their lives to Christ and joined Friendship Baptist Church. She was an Educator for the Cleveland Board of Education for many years. After relocating
to Birmingham, AL she joined Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and obtained her Licence of Theology. When she wasn’t baking cakes, working at the church, or cooking the most
amazing family meals, she was walking in her calling as an entrepreneur. Because nurturing and teaching children was her passion, she founded and was the CEO of
Johnson’s Child Development Center Inc., for over 30 years. During that time she provided unprecedented childcare from 6:00 am to 12:00 am for children ages 6 weeks
to 13 years old. She cared for everyone as if they were her own. She lived a life that was the epitome of selflessness and spreading love to all. After countless
years of pouring into the lives of others through her childcare center, she retired and moved back to Greenville. She faithfully served the Lord at Pine Level Baptist
Church before relocating again to Birmingham, AL in February of 2020. She was highly favored by God and generously shared her wealth with anyone ever in need. She
often stated, “giving is my assignment and purpose from the Lord”. Family was her number one priority, holidays meant the world to her, and she was very intentional
about spending time with those she loved often. From countless awards, certifications, recognitions, and simply being an advocate for childcare and
education, to her selfless heart, and graceful spirit, she carried out her assignment in perfect fashion.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her son Willie James “Sugar Boy” Crenshaw Jr., five brothers and six sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memories and carry her legacy, her daughter Cynthia Yvonne Crenshaw (Birmingham, AL), 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1
great-great-grandchild, two sisters Annie M. Scott and Mary F. Grace (Greenville, AL) two brothers, Rufus Scott and Robert (Marie) Scott (Birmingham, AL), two special
adopted children Major Wilson (Cleveland, OH) Mary Elizabeth Jones (Birmingham, AL) and a tremendous host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family members of
whom she loved dearly.
