Ms. Bobbie Jean Smith was born May 30, 1958 to the late Willie & Bessie Cross Smith in Greenville, Alabama. She departed this life on July 4, 2020 in Montgomery, Alabama.
Bobbie Jean accepted Christ as her savior at an early age. She was a devoted member at Harrison Street Christian Church of Greenville, Alabama where she served as choir director for many years. God Bless Bobbie Jean with an powerful anointed voice.
She also was an active member of “The Original Family Group called “The Gospel Soul Searcher's,” where she traveled to many cities, and states ministering through songs. She didn’t mind lending her voice to help other choirs and churches.
She graduated from Greenville High School Class of 1978. Bob joined the work field at an early age working at Gulf City Fisher in Pascagoula, MS. Later she resided to Greenville, AL., where she took on the field at Luverne Nursing Home as a CNA until her health failed.
Her two favorite words were “Quit Dat” & You done fell out yo tree”.
She was preceded death by a grandson Anthony (Toot) Smith, (7) sisters Lois Jean, Ruthie Neal, Mary Frances, Dorothy Pearl, Dorothy Kate, Bettie Smith, Laura Mae and (1) brother Willie George.
She leaves to cherish her memories 3 loving children Audrey (Chris) Davidson, Anthony Smith, Greenville, AL., Kennedy (Kawanis) Smith of Foley, AL., (2) granddaughters Tyneisha Smith, Amiya Smith, (2) grandsons Kamir and Jhace, (1) great grand Aiden Smith, (1) sister Annie Pearl Purifoy, of Montgomery, AL,(1) brother J. C. (Janie) Smith ,Pascagoula. MS, (1) sister-in-law Dora Smith of Greenville, AL., and a host of nieces , nephews and cousins.
Bobbie Jean will truly be missed. Now the women of the Gospel Soul Searchers are all together again singing in the “Heavenly Choir”.
