Walter Yelder

Deacon Walter Yelder was born on June 7, 1926 to the late Purry and Eva Yelder in Butler County, Alabama. He departed his earthly home bound for his heavenly reward on February 2, 2019.

Deacon Yelder was preceded in death by his Parents and five siblings, Lucille, Louise, James, Willie and Albert. Walter gave his Life to God at an early age and joined the Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church No. 2 where he served faithfully in many capacities. He served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Usher Board and Chairman of the Deacon Board until his death. Deacon Yelder also served as the first President of the Union District Brotherhood Auxiliary.

Deacon Yelder married the love of his life, Mrs. Bertha Mae Hunt, in 1948  They lived and loved one another for over 70 years. He worked and retired from Ward Freight Line. Walter was a member of Lodge 23A.

Deacon Yelder leaves to cherish his wonderful memories his loving wife, Mrs. Bertha Mae Yelder, Greenville, AL; three sons, Timothy Moorer, Greenville, AL, James Moorer, Prattville, AL and Terry (Sheri') Moorer, Montgomery, AL, eight grandchildren, Tymeka, Kewana, Jena, Tanna, Trez, Suzanah, TJ and Gabriel; a God-daughter, June Durant, Pensacola, FL; four great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
