Ms. Zula Shambray was born February 2, 1942 to the late Mr. Comesee (Rock) and Mrs. Louise Shambray in Greenville, Alabama.
She joined Butler Chapel A.M.E Zion Church as a child and remained a faithful member until the Lord called her home on Thursday, August 18, 2022. She was a member of Class # 4, a member of the Stewardess Board and a member of The Caring and Loving Sisters.
Zula attended the public schools of Greenville and graduated from Lomax-Hannon High School, the Class of 1960.
During her lifetime, she was employed by Boss, Allied and Rheem Manufacturing Companies. Her first job was a teacher’s aide for the Butler County School System. She began her career in the Funeral Industry in 1970. She received her funeral director license on February 1, 1976. She was the matriarch of Hudson Funeral Service.
She was preceded in death by four sisters: Leviticus Trotter, Carrie Taylor, Sarah Ferguson and Mary Shambray, three brothers, Cecil, Oscar and Bernard Shambray.
Zula leaves to cherish her many memories: one loving son and his wife , Gerald Wade Shambray (Daisy), Portsmouth VA, three doting grand children: Briana, Rahmon and Joshua, Portsmouth, VA, three great grand children, one sister, Hazel Benion, Detroit, MI; one aunt: Alice Shambray, Montgomery, AL, two sisters-in -law: Ruby Shambray and Essie Shambray; one brother-in-law: Huey Ferguson, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins including two special nieces, Nikki Shambray and Brigitte Davis, two devoted cousins, Edna Reese and Mershell Campbell, special friends, Mrs. Betty J. Davidson, Mrs. Linda Robinson, her church family and Hudson Funeral Service Staff; Lifelong friends, Ms. Lois Burnett, Ms. Annie Mae Scott, Mrs. Daisy Carter, other relatives and friends.
